Welcome to Indian Cultural Society, Petone

The Indian Cultural Society is a charitable organisation, officially established in 1998 to preserve, maintain, foster and encourage Indian religions, cultures and languages for Indian residents within New Zealand. We promote better understanding and relations between Indians and other ethnic groups in New Zealand – establishing liaisons with similarly interested organisations both in New Zealand and overseas.

Our community observes and celebrates Hindu festivals at our premises along with various other activities such as our annual Food Fiesta events, fundraising for other charitable organisations and/or relief fund for earthquake or flooding disasters.

We work closely with other ethnic organisations, contributing to the multicultural ethnic diversity of New Zealand and have made valuable contributions to New Zealand society. We are proud of our dual heritage and responsibilities.

Gujarati Sunday School

Every Sunday, a school is run for the children of our community at our Hall. Its purpose is to teach and embrace the Gujarati language, Hindu Religion and understanding of its scriptures.

Our children learn to engage and interact in open discussions, forming great friendships in a fun learning environment.
